A short introduction to Overcome Fertility Stress.

You're doing everything right, and it still hurts.

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means you're carrying something heavy without support.

What it is, and what it is not.

What it is

  • A complete CBT program written by clinical psychologist Dr. Fjóla Helgadóttir
  • Five modules: Getting Started, Behaviors, Thoughts and Worries, Relationships, and Redefine Your Life
  • Exercises you do, not videos you passively watch
  • Self paced and fully private, available anywhere
  • Adaptive: your answers shape what the program shows you next

What it is not

  • × Not a chatbot. Nothing here is generated by AI
  • × Not generic wellness content or "just relax" advice
  • × Not a replacement for your medical fertility treatment. It runs alongside it
  • × Not a substitute for crisis care. If you're in crisis, please seek help directly
  • × Not a waiting list. You can start tonight

Tested in two published trials.

Overcome Fertility Stress has been evaluated in two published trials: a 2023 feasibility study and a randomized controlled trial published in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. In the trial, women using the program showed a significant reduction in infertility related stress, dropping 22.85 points on average on the Fertility Problem Inventory, while the waitlist control group showed no significant change. The pre to post effect size was large (Cohen's d = 1.70). It comes from a platform with a published research record built over nearly two decades, two of them cited below.

"Really helpful. Parts A to C helped me the most. The focus on not being stressed was killing me and making me so stressed, I got a good reality check for that here. Thank you."

"Thank you so much for this program. It helped me a lot. It was really helpful to hear all the stories, because I have no one around me who has been through something similar and was feeling very alone. It was helpful to validate my feelings, to know that I am not alone, and to help me navigate through those feelings. Thank you again."

"This program helped me tremendously to understand myself better and to be kinder to myself. I am going to be fine no matter what happens."

"This program helped me realise that life does not revolve around having children, that it is good and healthy to focus on living your life, alongside the fertility journey. It's so easy to get stuck in the fight and dig deep, but it takes a toll. This program can help you pick yourself up and step out of the fertility prison you've been slowly locking yourself in."

Asked at 11pm, answered here.

Does CBT actually help with fertility stress?

Yes. In a randomized controlled trial published in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology, women using this program showed a significant reduction in infertility related stress while the control group showed no change, with a large effect size. The full citations are on this page.

Is this a substitute for seeing a psychologist?

No. It's structured CBT you can start tonight, without a waiting list. If you have or need individual care, the program works well alongside it, and many therapists use structured programs like this between sessions.

Can I do this during IVF, while pregnant, or after loss?

The program was built for the realities of fertility treatment, including cycles, waiting, and grief. It is not designed for use during pregnancy, but it can be used after a recent loss.

Is it private?

Yes. You enrol individually, work through the program alone, and your responses stay private. No one is notified that you're using it. We do not share any user data with third parties.

Does my partner do it with me?

The program is designed for you individually, and it includes modules on relationships and communication. Many people share what they learn; some partners choose to enrol separately.

How much time does it take?

Modules are short and self paced. Most people work in small sessions a few times a week, at whatever hours their life and treatment allow.

The stress doesn't have to run the show.

Structured, private, evidence based CBT for fertility stress, written by a psychologist who takes what you're carrying seriously.
